Bridges the gap between easy riding boards and the hp shortboard. A speedy combo of low entry rocker, wide-ish nose, forward wide point and a generous concave meet a performance tail rocker, double concave through the fins and the same sort of bump squash you find on a contest HP shortboard. It looks simple but sometimes less is more and there is a lot packed into this little board.
We Say
I used this model for a year or so around both Guernsey spots as well as heavily in the Maldives.. An early take on the hybrid High Performance Shortboard the Short Round is a little chubbier in the mid section with a drastically thinned out last 8" in the nose to quickly shed that additional width under the front foot. That means you still get the benefit of the larger planing area under foot but without the extra heft in the nose to throw around.
Rode the 5'6" up to about triple over head waves at Sultans and the pulled in squash tail holds in even the steepest of sections. A good design for those guys who are capable of riding HP shortboards but just want to take it a little easier.
Works great as a forgiving shortboard for growing kids too.
